West Chapter Report – December 2012

Greensboro, NC – (NCRSCCA) – HELLO Race Fans!!  You should have been there, great fellowship, food and drinks.

We started off watching some footage of the Goblins Go at VIR.  It was good to have the big screen TV up and running. 15 of us welcomed guest Mike Dehaan to SCCA.  Mike and his son are builting a race car, SPO?  It will be exciting to see what they make of the Mustang.

Following a review of what happened at the November Board of Directors meeting, we discussed having an ECR or TCPC race inside of the 13 Hour enduro in October. The idea is that the 13 Hour gang would get first crack at entry spots and if there was room in the paddock for more cars to pit, then add a shorter enduro class to fill up the field. This format has been run at Road Atlanta for quite some time, the ECR and the Pro It being run at the same time, when the 45 minute Pro It is over they give them a flag and they come in, race done. The ECR continues for the normal time. Go figure, everyone gets more racing, the track stays busy, the corner workers see more action,  a happy SCCA group. Give this some thought and let your Member-at-Large, Chapter Coordinator or other Comp board member know what you think about this option for more track time.

Lots on stuff coming up after Christmas,  Annual Banquet on January 5 in Raleigh, great food and fun stuff, hope to see you there. SEVID and the National Convention in Vegas also in January and February, double drivers school at Robling Road.

Have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a SAFE and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

See you at the Banquet

John Lindquist
West Chapter Coordinator
