Jean Quick
November 15, 1951 - November 1, 2024
Jean Quick, a member of the North Carolina Region since 1984, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024, after a long illness. You may remember her as the smiling face seen here, who was always willing to help at NCR’s Hospitality tent at our races at VIR in years past.
Before that she was her husband Wayne’s right hand girl. He said she would do anything he asked, although it took him a while to teach her how to change the tires on his race car. Wayne raced GT3, GTA, GT1 and RX4 during his 30 years of racing, beginning in 1982.
Later, when Wayne developed breathing problems and diabetes, she was his nurse. Then, when Jean became ill, the roles reversed, and Wayne took care of Jean. Wayne doesn’t think there are many of his fellow racers around anymore because he stopped racing in 2013 when his health forced him to quit.
Over the years, Jean worked many specialties including Flagging & Communications, Sound Control, Timing & Scoring, Pit & Grid, and of course Hospitality. Wherever she was needed, she was willing to help.
There will not be a memorial service or funeral for Jean, as Wayne has serious restrictions on his mobility. However, if you’d like to write to him, his email address is [email protected]. He would love to hear from you.
