We would like to give a big thank you to everyone who came out for the Oak Tree Double National. We had a couple of long days, but they were filled with some great racing. Except for a little bit of weather on Friday afternoon, it was a fantastic weekend. Thank you all for coming out to join us and help make it a great weekend.
I’d like to thank our Race Chair, Sara Snider, for hijacking the shrimp boat on her way to the track. Yet another tasty treat!
Now, on to the next race! Quickly approaching is the SARRC/MARRS Challenge, May 11 & 12 at VIR. This is a Double Regional with 2 Regions, so I guess that makes it a quadruple. That’s a lot of racing to pack into two days and you don’t want to miss it. If you have any turn requests, just add them to the remarks when you register.
Thank You NCR!
Thank you from Majors Series Administrator to NCR

Sara,
On behalf of the Majors Team, I’d like to thank the North Carolina Region for hosting rounds five and six of the Eastern Conference of the U.S. Majors Tour. The event delivered above our expectations, largely due to the efforts of the North Carolina Region personnel and I want you to know how much it was appreciated.
I want to thank you for all your pre-event work which made my arrival at VIR go so smoothly as well as all your support during the weekend. I also want to thank you for recruiting Sandy Sisk to help me at Victory Circle. She is a natural and was a huge help. I really enjoyed meeting her and spending the weekend with her. Having Patty and Dawn take the iPad Mini around to get folks to do the survey was great.
RE Report – April 2013
This club is the BEST!
The latest iteration of the Nationals/Majors race is behind us, and what accolades we accumulated! The SCCA National representatives charged with overseeing our operation were practically bubbling with praise after the event. They told us that, of all the regions conducting Majors races so far, our Region was the most receptive, most committed, and the smoothest. They praised how seamless and punctual the races were executed, how good decisions were made on Saturday night, when weather intervened, and how well we recovered from that. They said our Tech and impound was the best executed of any Region so far. OUR PEOPLE ARE THE BEST. I think this race will go into history as one of the strongest and most notable races the Region has ever run, while handling, what may be, the most entries we’ve ever had. It’s almost a benefit that we had weather issues on Saturday night, because it demonstrated how well we handle unexpected and potentially dangerous situations in the attendance of a large number of National attendees. At the end of it all, I mentioned that this race was not operated much differently from any of our races, and that we really didn’t make many changes to comply with National’s requirements.
The racing was great with mostly large groups, close racing, and beautiful, if cold, weather. Many races were decided in late lap charges without rough driving. National helped make race finish events special with checkered flag/victory laps, champagne and interviews on the podium. Every participating Region member is to be applauded for their part in this event. It takes an unimaginable number of people doing their best, behind the scenes and in front, to accomplish a result like this. I think the Region will benefit in the future from our work last weekend. Financially, there is hope that this race may help make up for the dismal result of our March race.

The April Triangle Chapter meeting was held at El Rodeo and was well–attended, but no one had any racing video to share despite it being well after the March Memories event.
Come on, guys! Show us your stuff! But judging by the noise level our members found much to talk about. There was a lot of bench racing going on. It took several minutes to get the room quiet enough to start our meeting!

Please accept our sincere apologies for yesterday’s April Fools Day newsletter. The date of the BFGoodrich Tires VIR Super Tour — Oak Tree Double National has NOT CHANGED it remains April 19-21, 2013.
All of the other information in that newsletter was accurate.
The person responsible for the unfactual date change has been sacked. This event is part of SCCA’s U.S. Majors Tour and is very serious.
