Y’all Come to the NCR Picnic! – UPDATE w/Registration Link

The North Carolina Region Picnic will be held on September 28th in NE Guilford County, at North East Park, 4010 High Rock Road, Gibsonville. We’ll get started about 9am and have the park until 8pm. We have secured the use of one of the larger shelters, which will accommodate more than 100. This is a large park with several features that should be of interest to all ages of your family. A new train has just been installed, a Carousel, miniature Golf, and ball fields of many types.

Speaking of ball fields, the West Chapter thought that a game between the Chapters would be a great idea. They invite you to bring the kids and whatever sporting goods they might want to use as there are varied playfields for our use.

The NC Region will provide hot dogs and hamburgers and soft drinks. To fill out the food and make the event a True NCR event, please bring a bowl of your favorite picnic fare.

Please note: This venue allows us to bring and consume BEER as our ONLY alcoholic beverage and ONLY IN CANS. Additionally, it may ONLY be consumed in Shelter #2 and NO OTHER PART OF THE PARK. And, don’t forget that we have to be out of the park by 8:00pm.

And…don’t miss out on this opportunity to experience a little bit of history!

Registration is here.

Anyone who would like to help out, please contact Buddy Matthews at 336-312-8858 or 336-617-8138 or redstarracing@triad.rr.com.

Article about Eric Danielsen in “Play by Play” Magazine

Walker Nelms has written an article about Eric Danielsen, one of NCR’s Flag Chiefs, for Play-By-Play Magazine, a free Roanoke sports magazine that is widely distributed in that area (Kroger, CVS, YMCA etc.)

Walker is hopeful that it will create some interest in the Roanoke area and maybe help to pick up some new flaggers for NCR!  You can view it online at playbyplayonline.net   The article is on page 7.

Thanks Walker!

We would like to give a big thank you to everyone who came out for the Oak Tree Double National. We had a couple of long days, but they were filled with some great racing. Except for a little bit of weather on Friday afternoon, it was a fantastic weekend. Thank you all for coming out to join us and help make it a great weekend.

I’d like to thank our Race Chair, Sara Snider, for hijacking the shrimp boat on her way to the track. Yet another tasty treat!

Now, on to the next race! Quickly approaching is the SARRC/MARRS Challenge, May 11 & 12 at VIR. This is a Double Regional with 2 Regions, so I guess that makes it a quadruple. That’s a lot of racing to pack into two days and you don’t want to miss it. If you have any turn requests, just add them to the remarks when you register.

Sara,

On behalf of the Majors Team, I’d like to thank the North Carolina Region for hosting rounds five and six of the Eastern Conference of the U.S. Majors Tour.  The event delivered above our expectations, largely due to the efforts of the North Carolina Region personnel and I want you to know how much it was appreciated.

I want to thank you for all your pre-event work which made my arrival at VIR go so smoothly as well as all your support during the weekend.  I also want to thank you for recruiting Sandy Sisk to help me at Victory Circle.  She is a natural and was a huge help.  I really enjoyed meeting her and spending the weekend with her.   Having Patty and Dawn take the iPad Mini around to get folks to do the survey was great.
