West Chapter Report – August 2011

GREENSBORO, NC (NCR-SCCA) – The weather was just right inside Cooper’s Ale House for the August 2nd meeting of the West Chapter. The drinks were cold and the food great. Seventeen members showed up to watch the videos and tell stories about last weekend’s “Chump” car race at VIR. Heather Powers and Bill Foster told how easy it was to change car parts at the track and how much fun they had in the Firebird. Doug Hooper said it was a long, long 24 hour race, but fun. Pete Romanowski liked watching from the cool comfort of the AC in his car. Way to go Pete! The important thing was that everyone had a good time and went home safe. We discussed news from the last NCR-SCCA Board Meeting, held July 20th. Tim Lyons brought a smoking good video of a Road Atlanta race, in which things got real exciting. Ask him about it next time you see him.

Tim Lyons, Heather Powers, Brian Hooper, Jerry Pell and myself are planning on racing around the high banks of Charlotte Motor Speedway on August 20th and 21st. If you haven’t signed up yet, get cracking! The lights go on at 8pm on Saturday for the first of two CCPS races. Actually, the day starts at 8am with lots of practice & qualifying and then racing. Pete Romanowski said he’s ready, flags in hand.

Hey, looking for a sharp 1995 M3?? Call Tim Lyons.

OK, enough said, we’ll see you at the track. Bring a cooler of drinks, especially water, as it may be hot. See you next month (on September 6th) for more exciting stories and videos!
