Brenda Lyons 1949-2024

Brenda Wylene Ward Lyons, 75, of Thomasville passed away unexpectedly on December 18, 2024 at Thomasville Medical Center.

Brenda was born November 21, 1949, to the late Miles Ward and Mary Tarleton Ward in Charlotte, NC.  She was a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and earned her MBA at Winthrop University.  Brenda began her career in Charlotte as a laboratory manager at The Trane Company.  She then moved into textile chemistry, working for Ciba Specialty Chemicals and Huntsman Corporation in High Point until her retirement in 2013.  Brenda was an avid Tar Heel fan, attending games and several reunions.  She was a passionate cat lover, rescuing dozens of cats over the years and carefully tending to her own.  She was a registered yoga teacher and taught classes for the past twenty years.  Brenda was a faithful member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Thomasville.  She has held several church leadership positions and was an integral part of the contemporary worship team.  Brenda was an intelligent, caring, generous person who readily shared her skills and knowledge and contributed to anything she was involved in.

Surviving are her husband of over 40 years, Robert Timothy Lyons of the home, her brother, Miles Reid Ward, Jr., of Thomasville, and her precious cats.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in January, 2025. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Ginger’s Fund FOS-DCNC Inc., Memorial United Methodist Church, or a charity of your choice.
