Checkered Flag – Dave Page

Dave Page

Dave Page

Very sad news. I received the following email from Vicki Wilson on Saturday, Aug 13:

Hello SCCA folks,
This is Vicki Wilson, former flagging and communications worker. Most of you know Dave Page who also flagged for many years. Dave passed away this morning at Duke Med Center following a brief illness. Funeral arrangements are listed below and I am trying to help the family notify his many friends. I also sent an announcement to James Shanks asking him to notify folks. I have been in contact with Dwight and Chuck.

Thank you for spreading the word.

Vicki

Triangle Chapter Report – August 2011

RALEIGH, NC (NCR-SCCA) – The August meeting of the Triangle Chapter was a really great time!  About a score of us gathered at El Rodeo in Raleigh to eat, drink, and watch video of the recent Lemons race at VIR.  Who would have guessed that so many Chapter members had taken part?  Mark Senior and his son Ryan were on one team. Blair “Pepe” Stitt was on another, along with Steve Rose and West Chapter members Heather Powers and Bill Foster and a cast of dozens, apparently. And they had stories to tell.

West Chapter Report – August 2011

GREENSBORO, NC (NCR-SCCA) – The weather was just right inside Cooper’s Ale House for the August 2nd meeting of the West Chapter. The drinks were cold and the food great. Seventeen members showed up to watch the videos and tell stories about last weekend’s “Chump” car race at VIR. Heather Powers and Bill Foster told how easy it was to change car parts at the track and how much fun they had in the Firebird. Doug Hooper said it was a long, long 24 hour race, but fun. Pete Romanowski liked watching from the cool comfort of the AC in his car. Way to go Pete! The important thing was that everyone had a good time and went home safe. We discussed news from the last NCR-SCCA Board Meeting, held July 20th. Tim Lyons brought a smoking good video of a Road Atlanta race, in which things got real exciting. Ask him about it next time you see him.

West Chapter Report – July 2011

GREENSBORO, NC (NCR-SCCA) – Well, as you may have noticed, I am not the most written Chapter Coordinator.  We have been having monthly meetings all year at Cooper’s Ale House in Greensboro and having a great group of SCCA members showing up to tell stories about all forms of racing.  We have even had some race videos to watch.  A major topic at each meeting is what happened at the previous Board of Directors meeting.  Keeping informed is what the Chapter meeting is all about, so be sure to attend the one in your area.
